Across the Mushroom Village arises a melodic sound, that announces the arrival of an enchanting autumn morn.
"The idea for Mushroom Village came
about six years before I actually completed the painting. It was shortly after I had finished Palace of Faerie. I love the
idea of hidden realms where tiny magical creatures live. Originally the image that popped into my head was for a portrait
(vertical) format. The Mushroom Village was in the foreground, with giant ferns as a back drop and a forest in the background.
Images in my imagination, or minds eye, stay in my memory much longer than something I see with my own eyes. I had the idea
for Palace of Faerie in my head for three years before I actually started work on it, and it came out exactly as I planned.
This painting turned out completely different. It wasn't until just before I started that I changed the layout to landscape
(horizontal) format. It was then that I decided to incorporate Mushroom Village with Mythic Morning into a diptych. Mythic Morning and Mushroom Village were painted using
open acrylics on watercolor board."
